I started this board because I get messages like this . . .
Hello Susan my name is Sarah and I am in desperate need of a meeting. I am currently trapped in a 2 year abusive relationship with my scziprenic boyfriend. He has given me 10 black eyes in these two years as well as broken my nose and gave me eye socket fractures, stitches and many bruises and sprains . I love him so much but I know that I am codependant. I rely on him for stability now and for helping me get to appointments with his car and such. I really think I could benefit from LAA meetings if you could get back to me when you can that would be great
Hope to hear from you soon,
Please share your experiences so that others will know they are not alone. I am a survivor myself. In 1967 my husband used to beat me every night if I did not do what I was told. He used to bring other women and wanted me to sleep with them and when I did not he would just beat me up. When I tried to leave he hit me in the face with a wine bottle and kept me hostage for three days. I finally got help and left. He came back everyday to torment me until he moved on to another victim.
This also happens to men. See the movie: "Men Don't Tell."
